Flamingoes are incredible difficult to photograph. They see you coming a mile off and start heading away from you - and they move surprisingly quickly. So more often than not, it's a game of hide & seek trying to get close enough to them for a decent shot. Out of every 20 occasions I travel to photograph them, perhaps I'll only get it right once. Twice with supreme luck. Conditions need to be absolutely perfect as well. No wind whatsoever and exceptionally flat water gives you a a good chance of getting outstanding results. If conditions aren't perfect, its time for an early lunch and a leisurely drive home. This photograph was captured at Shark Bay, Langebaan on an outstanding July morning.
